Charging motorcycle batteries

My sons Yamaha TT-R125ES has a GT4L-BS 12 volt battery. Can they be recharged using a standard 6/12 volt 10amp battery charger and if so how long should I charge it?

Is it a wet cell, AGM or Gel battery. If it is a wet cell, then it should be fine with most battery chargers. If it is an AGM or gel, you might need to modify some of the settings for the float charge voltage.

I learned the hard way that you have to charge them on the 2 amp setting, the 10 amp setting will cook them dry. i usually charge for 2 hours (start with one hour) just keep an eye on the meter if you have one!

Is this charger an older ferro-resonant charger or one of the newer intelligent chargers?

I charge my bike batteries (HD and Triumph) on a smart charger, it will both float/tend and charge. I've had no problems.
