Port Name Typicaly All Caps?

Is the post name on the stern of a sailboat typicaly all CAPS? Thanks.

The homeport can be in upper or lower case, but capitalized, of course. I remember the regs stating at least 3" high (could be 4" - I forget) Arabic characters for the homeport of documented boats. However, there are no minimum standards for undocumented boats.

Curious...

On my boat I spelled Maryland instead of MD...I thought it looked nicer but am I breaking regs????

From the USCG website:

The name and hailing port of a recreational vessel must be marked together on some clearly visible exterior part of the hull. The vessel name of a commercial vessel must also be marked on the port and starboard bow and the vessel name and the hailing port must also be marked on the stern. All markings may be made by any means and materials that result in durable markings and must be at least four inches in height, made in clearly legible letters of the Latin alphabet or Arabic or Roman numerals. The "hailing port" must include both a place and a State, Territory, or possession of in the United States. The state may be abbreviated.

And think of how off-center it would be...

Augusta, Montpelier, Springfield, Lincoln are all capitals, but none of them are upper case. How can a letter be a lower case capital? Any fonts of knowledge care to advise?
