Get Wind/Depth data from Raymarine Autopilot through NMEA

Hi

I have Raymarine ST60+ Wind/Speed/Depth and a S1 wheel pilot installed. I can receive the Lat/Lon etc. in Notebook computer from the NMEA [output] port in S1 computer unit, but lack of Wind Speed/Angle and Depth. The S1 Maunel said that S1 didn't output Wind/Depth data through the NMEA port. Wired!!

How can I get the Wind/Depth data from S1 unit? Please help.

Thanks in advance.

You can't. That would have to be a NMEA output directly from the tri-data control head to the computer.

PBzeer, Thanks.

Connection between Autopilot and 3 instrument in my SeaTalk network is listed below:
[S1 computer]<-->[ST6002+ controller]<-->[Speed]<-->[Wind]<-->[Depth]

I only found 1 NMEA Input/Output for S1 and 1 NMEA Input for ST6002+. Garmin GPS was connected to [S1] through NMEA Input and Notebook through NMEA output. The Lat/Lon, COG and SPD data displayed in my Notebook Well under the setup. There's no other NMEA output in my SeaTalk Network. Only one SeaTalk port left......

I don't have TriData control head in my setup. Even I have one, there's no NMEA output in the back. So, what can I do?? Thanks again.

You need to buy a SeaTalk to NMEA 0183 bridge. Raymarine sells one, but I don't know how much it costs. Another option is to use an NMEA multiplexer, as some of the NMEA multiplexers have the capability of converting SeaTalk into NMEA 0183, but I don't know how well they work.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

SailingDog, Thanks. I found these products from Raymarine and BrookHouse.

What's the major difference between [SeaTalk to NMEA 0183 bridge from Raymarine] and the [NMEA multiplexer]? More I/O ports? Some threads mentioned that 3rd party multiplexer may miss the translation, is this true?

Glad to help.

The SeaTalk to NMEA 0183 data translation is going to be better with the Raymarine bridge...after all, SeaTalk is a Raymarine proprietary protocol. But I know some people have had good luck with certain brands/models of the NMEA multiplexers... YMMV.

PS. I don't believe it was a BrookHouse NMEA multiplexer that they had been using... but I don't recall the brand.

How to establish serial connection between RayMarine AutoPilot S1 and the Notobook for receiving position and sending navagation command?

RayMarine S1 got "NMEA input +/-" NMEA output +/-"
RS232 got "RxD", "TxD" and "GND"

Do we have to connect like the following?
NMEA input + <--> TxD
NMEA output + <--> RxD
NMEA input - / NMEA output - <--> GND

Thanks in advance
