Guest ConnectCharge plugs?

To go along with the "undersized charger" thread....

I am getting a Guest 20A/2b charger, and it comes with their "ConnectCharge" plug pre-wired. I already have 110 shore power coming aboard, but it's distributed directly to cabin outlets. There are no connections (yet) between the inbound 110 and the 12v system.

Has anyone wired one of these up before? Will I need to install an new receptacle in the cockpit for this connection, or can I somehow wire it into the existing 110 connection?

Sorry for the silly questions....

Cheers!

Of course, you can wire it up directly, but that will generally involve chopping off the "ConnectCharge" plug and may or may not void your warranty..

Why would you setup a receptacle in the cockpit for it... just wire to the existing shore power system. If push comes to shove, you can always get a "ConnectCharge" receptacle, and add that to your existing 110 AC side and then plug the charger into that... Doing it this way, you can install the receptacle near where the charger needs to go and put it on its own breaker.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Ahhhhh, I think I'll have to do the latter. The ConnectCharge receptacle looks exactly like the receptacle in the cockpit for shore power, complete with waterproof cap. I suppose I could install the ConnectCharge receptacle between the lazaretta and the battery compartment, and then us a 20A cable to connect the receptacle to the existing shore power system.

I suppose I could also wait for the charger to arrive, and see what the installation instructions say. That would require patience, though, and I'm soooo excited about getting out on the water! Of course, it's 40 degrees F with a 20kt wind, and there was ice (!) on the boat yesterday. I'll just cool my jets and work on some other projects until the new wiring arrives.

At least my wife works at an industrial manufacturing facility, so I can get my Group 24 batteries 25% below list by ordering through them!

Cheers!
