disassembly of older merriman / rc marine style bronze winches

I can't seem to figure out the trick to getting the top off of these style of winches... Any advice?

here is a link to a picture of the type of winches that I am refering to...

eBay Motors: Bronze winch by Merriman - old type - single speed (item 250102028066 end time Apr-12-07 17:12:16 PDT)

Any advice or a link to a parts diagram would be very greatly appreciated

thank you!
Greg

Tartan34C will become famous soon enough
Greg,
The cap is held by a large screw with a slot wide enough to fit the flat end of the winch handle. The screw on some models is under a press in cover so if you don’t see it look down into the winch at the center and look for two small notches used to pry the center cover up.
All the best,
Robert Gainer
