Boring question

I noticed people are much too frisky this morning, so I'm going to reel you all back with a question that really isn't very exciting at all:

I want to 'polish' my 30-year-old gelcoat, but I intend to repaint (2-part poly) next spring. I understand that if I used wax, I would have to strip it all back off to paint.

Does anyone have any fancy ideas to shine up the gelcoat without using something that will need to be stripped when I begin to paint?

Dave...when you do 2 part you're gonna have to wet sand and clean the hull anyway. Just wax it and it'll be gone by next year anyway!

Anything you use to shine the gelcoat is going to have to be stripped off.... the question is what will be the least painful to strip off. Don't use any of the new silicone or Teflon-based polishes, as they'll be very difficult to remove completely.

You can use a very nice shinny product, it shines a lot, and in 2 years, when you want it off, you just show up with a gun, a bad ass face and it will leave your boat...Guaranteed...

Unfortunately very very very expensive and very rare to find, as it is made mainly with French Courage......

Thanks, everyone! The Island Girl Sea Glow cleaner/conditioner has my vote so far, but the Simply Brilliant wax they recommend with it is pretty pricey. Does anyone know if I can get a different wax for this, and if so, have any recommendations?

Seems to me that next spring isn't all that far away. Have you considered putting that time, effort and money into something else?
