Does Size Matter?

OK... sorry about the thread title but I couldn't resist... this is an anchor question...

I currently have a 45lb Bruce on our 22,000lb Passport 40. I generally prefer Delta's and have been thinking about replacing it with a 44lb Delta (there is 150' of chain + 200' of three strand connected to it). I am nowhere near my boat right now so I'm curious on people's thoughts here... do you think a 44lb Delta will fit through the existing equipment? See the LARGE pic below

Do NOT mistake this thread for a "which anchor is best" thread.

Labatt...I don't think it will work with your jib stay attachment right there.

I have that Delta. I think it might work, but you will not be able to pull it all the way in. There is a trip line hole a tthe top that you could connect a stay to (between it and the roller). Would it work??? Just do not know. Go buy it at West and if it does not fit, return it. Remind them of their no hassle return policy.

I don't think the stock on the delta is that small... I don't think it will fit..

Hard to tell from the photo, but the Bruce's shank appears to be set in a slot, carved into the bow's gunwale. The anchor pulpit is very deep, with the roller positioned close to deck level. If this is the case, the Delta shank may fit.

The one on the left, that is copper verdigris colored is a rope drum for the windlass, the shiny stainless one on the right is a furling drum for his genoa.

I think it is one of those old fashioned propulsion devices. You pull that green line really fast and the prop turns.

PS I might be wrong. It MIGHT be the drum holding the reefing line for his jib, but the propulsion device sounds better, huh??

CD - funny stuff! It's jokes like that which make you a true Dad!

I guess I'll do the West thing... I'll call and see if they have one down there.

TB - there is indeed a well carved in for the shank. There is a large vertical clearance.

It seems like enough people think it MIGHT work to make it worth it to lug a 44lb weight down 3 stories of stairs to the slip
