Engine Zincs

I want to inspect and replace the zincs on my Perkins 4.108 diesel. I'm trying to determine where the zincs are located. My Perkins manual doesn't refer to them. Any advice?

Should look like a hex nut on your heat exchanger.

Most heat exchanger pencil zincs look like this -

Some of them may be only one piece, with the zinc firmly attached to the hex nut.

I have a 4-107, could there be two of these nuts? and are they located on the top of the heat exchanger?

My Westerbeke, which is a Perkins 4-107 in disguise, has one zinc in each of the main heat exchanger and the oil cooler exchanger. If you have not changed them for over a year, they might have completely disintegrated.But the previous photo should help you determine if the thing you remove is, in fact, a zinc holder.
