Dock Line Selection?

We need to replace the dock lines on our boat, right now its some 1/2" and some 5/8" 3 strand with line snubbers. We do all most all of our docking in a slip. I was hoping for something that might be easier on the hands (double braided?), but my new 3 strand will be. Any suggestions and a good place to get line by the foot at a fair price. Thanks.

Did you want pre-spliced lines of fixed length or did you just want raw rope that you will cut to length and then splice yourself as needed?

Docklines should be nylon, not dacron, due to the elasticity of nylon. Also, if you dock near any rough pilings, three-strand is much better than braided, which will tend to get picked apart by the roughness of the pilings.

I just want raw rope and I will cut and splice it as needed.

How many feet were you looking to buy. I know that SetSail.com, Steve Dashew's website used to sell rope by the 600' spool pretty cheaply.

You probably don't need that much, figuring that a 30' boat might need six-to-eight docklines, maybe 40' long or so.

Let me see if I can dig up the name of the vendor I was using a while back.
