Question Other Yanmar 3 GM woes & fuel tank

Hi,

This fall the yard mechanic was unable to change the impeller on our 1984 Endeavour and said I would need a new water pump...... I also need some work on the throttle which goes via an edson pedestal, and our engine hour meter is dead also.

As the hour meter is defunct at 900+ hours, not sure how many hours on the engine, although it doesn't look too bad and the boat appears not heavily used.

I have asked the yard for a ballpark estimate before proceeding with repairs, but they seem to be slow getting around to it.

Coud anyone recommend anyone in the mid-bay, Annapolis area or Eastern Shore, who could do good work on an old Yanmar, and advise me how to wisely spend repair money ?

My other issue is a dirty fuel tank- I had it unsuccessfully polished last year, and looking for this service again. Any recommendations for this service?

I have much appreciated advice from this forum in the past year. Our old boat, new to us last year is making progress.

Many thanks, SaltyPat

HerbDB is on a distinguished road
I use Karl's Marine Engine Service
401 Edgemere Dr., Annapolis, MD 21403
Phone: (410) 280-2667.

He has done the routine maintenance on my Yanmar 3GM30. He is generally pretty busy this time of year.
