Jordan of the JSD recomends anchoring by the stern

I dream of leaving my inland lake and doing some real sailing so I followed up on the JSD post and read the website. It has some very interesting stuff on waves and why boats go down because of them. What really hit me was a section on mooring and anchoring where Jordan makes a strong case for attaching from the stern. Jordan Series Drogue - Mooring and Anchoring

Any thoughts from the salts?

I've done this quite a bit...but I'm not really a traditional sailor in some respects, having a trimaran, rather than a lead mine...

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

With adequate freeboard and a well drained cockpit I suppose it would be ok. Better tell Alex to close his back door first. I haven't seen many windlasses on the stern, but I'll have to give it a try sometime. SD, ever try anchoring that kite from the port side? It could be nice watching those pretty breakers.
