Sonar, and where to install...

Purchased the Lowrance Sonar,GPS, Fishfinder unit, in the manual it states to either install the sonar transducer on the transom, or epoxy it to inner hull and fill it with resin. What would be the best way? I will be picking up the boat on Friday and sailing it probably for two + days to destination point, the boat is already in the water, and i dont want to really drill holes while in water. What would be the way to do it?
