Just purchased a thermostat for my Volvo Penta MD11C not needed but as a purcaution. The instructions say it is not for fresh water cooling. The Volvo I have is cooled by sea water (actually lake water). What type of cooling system are they talking about ?
You have the right one. Fresh water cooled is a closed system with antifreeze and rust preventers in it. It also has an expansion tank with a radiator type cap.
