Mercury 4.0 Problems

Simple engine, someone gave me one after he dropped in overboard. It wouldn't start, duh! While at anchor one day I just took the carb apart and cleaned it. Didn't even need any parts. Started right up and worked fine.

Hi everone thanks for all the help,

I replaced the spark plug and then gave it some pulls...nothing. Then I noticed the choke was all the way out...I said what if i put it in? Even though the engine had not been started for about two weeks. And it fired right up! The good lord also gave us a fine sail.
