Datamarine wind direction arrow - replacement?

Hi -
just bought a boat, and it has a Datamarine wind direction / speed unit. Two issues:
1) The anenometer is on the top of the mast, and is spinning fine, but the wind-vane is missing - all that is there is a little 1/4 inch metal post. Is it possible to find the replacement part for this (quickly? the mast is being stepped in 1 week).

2) When the mast was unstepped, the wires for the wind equipment cut - I presume it should not be too hard to just replace the cut with a set of connectors?

Thanks
Phillip

1) Did you call Datamarine to see if they had the part in stock? That would be my first step.

2) Yes, but you really need to get a fairly good weather resistant connector.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

I don't know if Datamarine still services small boat stuff. I think they moved more to commercial equipment, but don't quote me on that. Check these two links, one is for datamarine, and the other is for DMI which services all the old datamarine models. I went through DMI for a new speed log transducer, they are good people, good service.
