New Bottom Paint with Boat on hard
I put two coats of bottom paint on my boat last month, put her in the water, sailed from Annapolis to Cape May and then she got hauled out again while I am back at work.
Is the boat being out of the water going to have any detromental effects on the antifouling bottom paint that was recently applied? If so, would putting on another thin coat help? Thanks in advance

I don't have a good answer for ya, I just wanted to say I like the Mermaid on the back of your boat.

It all depends upon the type of paint. what did you put on the bottom?

It does depend on the type of paint you applied, if it was ablative it will be OK. The hard (non-sloughing) paint will peel off if out of the water, but I don't know how long it may take or how long your boat will be out of the water.

sorry, should have put that in the first post.
It is West Marine BottomPro Gold Antifouling Paint with Irgarol.

(thanks for the mermaid comment... she does turn heads haha)

You have a hard epoxy bottom paint that loses its effectiveness if the boat i hauled. Suggest sanding lightly before you drop her back in the water.

Most of the hard-epoxy paints become inactivated when kept out of the water for any period of time. I believe that Cam's suggestion is a good one, since sanding the paint layer lightly should remove the deactivated surface layer and allow the paint to work again upon re-immersion. However, I would add that you should sand the bottom as close to the time when you are going to re-launch the boat as possible.
