Southern New Engand Mooring

What is the recommended set up for mooring pendant(s) in southern New England? I have two hawse holes about 3' back from the bow on my 35' boat. Should I use one or two pendants? Should use the bow roller instead of the hawse holes? Currently I'm using two pendants of unequal length so that the boat tends ride on one and the other is a backup. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Most of the boats in my harbor on Long Island Sound use two equal length pennants hooked on the P and S cleats. I use one through my bow roller, but it's oversized (1 inch for a 7000 lb 30 foot boat). Both approaches seem to work.
