Centerboard Problems!

Hi, I just bought a Morgan 454 w/centerboard. When moving it to the work area from dry storage, the centerboard dropped, although the line that is suppose to hold it up was tight. I think I will have to find out what's happening by opening the pully case, but I can't get it open. Anyone have any ideas or experience with this? Thanks in advance, Bernd

Probably should contact the Morgan owner's association. They can probably tell you what's going on with the centerboard housing.

This is interesting, here is what we received back from Charley Morgan...

Sorry Bernd, I do not have information on the model that you have.
It sounds like opening the pulley case will be part of the solution

I have a Morgan 454 as well and replaced the center board pennant the last time it was out. The guys in the yard cut in to the glass as the top of the centerboard housing replaced the line and re-glassed it. I did not see them do did but they acted like it was not a real tough job.

I would also recommend that you consider replacing the centerboard pennant housing that runs through the cabin. Mine had corroded and was leaking. I had to replace it in the water. This was a little tricky but we got her done. Out of the water is should be easy.
