Removing a Staysail Sail Cover

The canvas staysail sail cover on my boat is starting to rip apart. It came with the boat when I bought it 8 months ago. I would like to remove it to repair or possibly by a new sail cover. The problem is that it is somehow attached to the boom. It attaches inside the groove so I can't see how it is attached. Does anyone have one of these staysail covers? And can tell me how in the world I am supposed to remove it from the boom?

Sounds similar to a Doyle or other 'Stack Pack' system. You should be able to slide the cover out of the track along with the sail.
