USCG Aux was set up at our marina last weekend - performing courtesy inspections. Ours passed - got the decal, but it's too ugly to stick on my boat . . . have a dislike of stickers mucking up my boats and cars.

Stick the sticker on a piece of starboard and hang it off a winch when you see the CG coming....

Either frame it on the bulkhead down below or Place in the boat's document book where you have all of the boats papers.

Boasun says; The vessel's name stenciled on them is required also.

I did not know that. Thanks so much. I will get her name on them this weekend.

We called the CC Aux a few months ago for this inspection. The very nice man asked what kind of a boat we owned. I explained it was a 1930 50' Schooner. He asked if I would bring it over to the boat ramp so we could pull it out of the water and they could inspect it. It was very hard not to laugh. I tried again to explain and reminded him she was 50 foot on deck. Again, he didn't seem to get what I was saying and still thought we should bring it to the boat ramp where they launch small motor boats. The funny part for us about this is that Skip put a bow eye on MISTRESS to help with the load from the anchors, however, when people would ask him about what it was, he likes to tell some that it is for the trailer hitch. LOL!
Now, my Dad started the CC Aux on LI many years ago, so I know what these good folks are about, but I think in this area I may have some difficulty getting a proper inspection. When we get up north to wooden boat country I think we will try this again. We really like the idea of the inspection and having that sticker isn't a bad idea at all.

What size wheels does that trailer have? I have been researching the different wheel sizes and apparently a bibber wheel makes it easier to unload the boat at the dock. Also what size vehicle do you have to pull the boat (what did you call the boat, a spooner...schooner). Anyways I have been looking at a 42 foot Pearson and wondered if I could pull her with my V.W. bus and the right wheels for the trailer.

Even you can trailer your 50 footer

I have this great pic which was taken by my mother in law the day MISTRESS left our backyard heading for the boat yard. It is less than 800 x 600 and less than 97 kb, but I can not seem to load it. It keeps failing no matter how small I make it. Got any hints.
Two days before this, Skip got in the van with implements of distruction to clear the way of any limbs for her path to the boat yard. Turns out the driver took a different path. oh well!
I still don't know how you would get her in the water from this hydrolic truck. I suppose you could get a running start, hit the button to lower the hydrolic arms, and then hit the brakes. Guess you would need a rather long painter for that one.

In Colorado, the water cops tell us that placing the vests under a seat or around a corner (in a berth, and so forth) is not legal. They say that the vests need to be within an arms reach if in a small boat or in a central place like in the cockpit or on the sofa in the lounge below decks, and they cannot be covered up, enclosed in a box, bag or closet, or in a locker.

SchoonerMistress-

Get an account on Flickr.com and upload your photos there or even easier...get picasa, from http://picasa.google.com and install it and create a picasa web-album with it...and then use it to load your photos to the web. Then post a link to the image via the image icon which looks like a yellow postage stamp with a mountain in it.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.
