Reefer Madness!

My older CDI "reefer" #12 I think it is is just about done for. I checked on CDI's spare parts website and it says that they no longer have the orginal, but a new spool from the newer flexible furler can be obtained and used with the older aluminium luff extrustions. I was wondering if anyone has done this?

I'm mad because I wasn't planning on replacing the "reefer" because it worked so nice. and now .. it seems the furling line connection has been ripped out of the spool.. #$%^&*@#$%%^!! Isn't it funny how things "just happen" when you "trust" your kid (he's 26) to go sailing with a friend while you stay home? More $ down the drain.. sigh
