refurb 23'O'day poptop

I inhereted a 23' o'day poptop that needs some work.It had been sitting for 13 years has all sails & riggings but the biggest problem being dryrot in the cabin mostly under deck in the v berth (totally rotted)and bulkheads. My question is would I have to remortgage my house to get this cleaned up.The rest of the boat looks pretty decent for a boat sitting this long ,what else should I be looking at this would be a first boat for me.So help me out,Boneyard or my yard?

If you do the work yourself, it should be doable without a huge monetary investment. You will have to have some fiberglassing and woodworking tools and skills. The sails will probably need to be replaced. Get Don Casey's This Old Boat, and read it. It's a good place to start.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.
