PUR Powersurvivor 35 existing equipment

I acquired a Morgan 43 as salvage and there is a powersurvivor 35 hooked up and all the manuals. Don t know if it works, looks OK. Is this a fairly decent maker? I did read about the maintainance and that it should be disasembled, some rings replaced , cleaned. Is it difficult to take apart and put back? Thanks john

I've got the same unit on my Allied. The unit is still operable and all parts needed for renewing are available from katadyne. They offered me great support when I went looking for an owners manual. It was out of print, but they sent me one electronically for no charge. While not in production as a powered unit, the parts are still manufactured for the manual unit which is sold as emergency gear. The power units also came with a handle that can be used to power the system should your 12v go down.

The unit seems to have a lower flow than most modern units, but on the other hand it is a rugged unit. I read about a cruiser in practical sailor that had the unit on a must have list. They had over 30,000 ocean miles with the system with reliable service. Easy unit to service as well from my limited experience with water makers.

They've replaced the PowerSurvivor 35 with the PowerSurvivor 40 IIRC. And Katadyn is the name of the company, no "e".

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.
