Instruments

I have some traditional 4" dia Standard Communication Corp gages ( Knot & Depth ) and I either want to replace ( with 4" dia gages ) or repair these unit but, it looks like Standard Communication is no longer around.

The units do function, but the faces & bezels are in real poor shape

So, who does rehab on old gages or where can I find new 4" dia units

Would it just be cheaper and easier to replace?? Probably not, I guess.

might not be cheaper, but certainly would be easier to get new guages.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

SailorMitch will become famous soon enough
Replace them! The new square instruments from just about anybody will cover those 4 inch round holes, or if you still want round, I think Signet still makes them. Look for their ads in the glossies.

Cost isn't so much a factor, I think they are original so I WOULD like to try keeping them if I could,

I Googled Gage Repair and several repair and recon shops came up. In the CG we used to send out our gages and they came back just like new and calibrated.

Thank Mitch, Thanks Berry, after Mitch posted Signet, I gave them a call, their gages are a little larger dia and I would have to enlarge holes,....... not a good idea, but, he did refer me to DMI who can restore older instruments, so I sent them a email and we'll see what they say

Thanks again, if all else fails, you gave me options

Are your instruments made by Standard Horizon? They are still a division of Vertex Standard. I had my 4" round depth sounder repaired by them last year.

Heinzer, I just found out the Standard Communications, is now Standard Horizon so I gave them a call, they can't repair my SC's but they told me about some 4" dia SH's that will adapt, but those gauges are also discontinued, although they are still repairable

The quest goes on
