Replacing our engine

In the next few days we must make a decision as to what engine to use to replace our Westerbeke 27 v-drive (Hurst transmission) in our Niagara 35.
We would appreciate responses from anyone who has replaced this exact engine and v-drive. We know that we can use several different engines if we are willing to pay the expense of changing the engine bed, etc. We would like information from anyone who has made the change with a minimum of extra work and expense.

My best experience with a diesel engine was with a Yanmar. Our Yanmar ran like a top and was trouble free. I haven't heard anything good about Volvos. Our Perkins has been steady as well. Sorry, but do not know anything about the specifics of your boat.
