Do you paint over thru hull bronze nipples on hull
Hi,
I was wondering when painting the hull do you paint over the bronze thru hull nipples on the hull or should you tape around them and not get paint over it? |
i took mine out than replaced them

You can paint over them; no need to re-bed unless they need replacement or are leaking.

While they do not require paint for any protection per se, they will allow biological growth to adhere to them. Since painting the bottom will invariably get paint on them anyway, might as well make the job complete and paint them over. Transducers may need a coating as well to maintain function, depending on the type of bottom paint applied.

Be careful. Some transducers will not work properly if copper-based bottom paints are used on them. You should check with the manufacturer of the transducer before painting them.
