I am deseperately looking to replace my control unit for my simrad AP22 autopilot. But not havenīt had any luck in finding one. Any ideas will any other control unit work for example the AP26?

Have you tried contacting Simrad directly? They may be able to rebuild yours or may have a refurbished one at hand. In any event they will be able to tell you whether the AP26 will work...my guess is yes since the form factor is nearly identical...probably just upgraded performance.
