icom m72

hi,
i just got an icom m72 handheld VHF.

it came with battery charger BC-166 and AC power supply BC 147A.

I am trying to figure a way to be able to use this charger with a cigarette lighter adapter and 12 volt (while in my boat, I don't have an inverter).

I've read the manual and it seems the only way to accomplish this is to buy a new charger (BC 119N) and cigarette light cable CP-17L.

Is this my only option :(

thank you for the help,
Jon

Jon-

Unfortunately, it does look like that is the only option for you.

Instead of lining Icoms pockets and getting a one trick pony...consider one of these...much more useful and cheap!

The Icom M72 is an great radio. I have owned one for 2 years and no problems. West Marine has an 12 volt cigarettes power cord under the west marine label for about $10 that will plug into the charging base. This will let you charge radio from an 12 volt lighter socket.

Good point Cam... and I even have one of these beasties on my boat... :D

Thanks, that's a cool little inverter!

I'm going to have to get one or two of those.

thanks!,

BTW, the rectangular port on the left front side of the inverter is a USB power port... to power USB-port powered items like an iPod or cell phone charging cable.
