Tacky rubberise body

I've a Night Owl night vision with rubberise body. I've kept it for some year and now the rubberise body is tacky. I resolve to putting talcum powder to avoid the tackiness. Any permanent solution to this ? Please advise.

Try scrubbing it with isopropyl alcohol. I vaguely recall that seemed to work on a pair of binocs I had on some ship I don't remember a number of years ago that I prefer not to remember. (g)

I saw "tacky rubberish body" and I thought he was peeking in my window!
Sorry, no real advice.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Ah.... if only you had turned on your cabin lights, I wouldn't need to use the tacky night vision.

Well, back to more talcum powder.

Sorry about that!
I've experienced this before, but my memory is obviously foggy. It happens with binocs and rubber radar hoods. It seems to be something from the oil off our skin-probably after eating Indian cuisine! Try some mild dish soap, like "Dawn", if I recall correctly it seems to happen more when dirt and oil remain on the binocs. Perhaps a coating of Armour-All afterwards might help. The one thing my memory is very clear on is that it is a major irritant and frustrating to resolve. Good luck.

SanderO is an unknown quantity at this point
Oil will degrade some rubber... and once it does, there's little you can do.

I would try a protectant, like 3M 303 or Armor-All.
