how to plug an unused thruhull

Seeking recommendations on how to best plug an unused 1/2 inch thru hull. It does already have a 1/2 inch male hose fitting. I'm thinking my best option is a short peice of hose and plug the other end with something?

The former owner of my boat jamed a wood plug into the thur hole and then filled it with 5200. Well he had 5200 everywhere, took over 4 hours to remove.

Glass it over. You did say it was unused...

Any other method is potentially prone to failure.

Aye, glass over, fair, match color, polish ... never know it was there!

Next season ... new toy, maybe a/c, genset, sumthin' 'spensive ... oh heck, need water to cool this thing ... guess I'll get 'er hauled and put in a thruhull.

I would double clamp a hose onto it, long enough to loop above the waterline and clamp a wooden plug to the end. Keep the valve shut until you find a new use for it.

Fit a wee stop **** to it, and close the valve?

Glassing and painting sounds tiresome.

It depends...if you're positive you're not going to need it for anything... glass it over... if you have future plans that may require a through-hull... do what TB said.
