Question mast on the pearson 26

I am looking for some helpful ideas on how to proceed with lowering the mast on my pearson 26. The top of the mast is not weighted down (Yet). The marina stepped her by hand, so I'm thinking it should come down without a crane. The boat is in the water.

???? Is this to suggest that you are planning on putting weights up there eventually ??? You might want to rethink that one ....

Make sure you get lots of help when you take it out. Is it deck-stepped or keel-stepped ?

An axe would take it down quite nicely... What do you mean by the top of the mast is not weighted down???

If the mast is deck-stepped, and doesn't go through the cabin top, then it should be relatively easy to unstep the mast. If the mast is keel stepped, it gets more complicated.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.
