Hunt for Marine Plywood

I am sure that marine plywood can be found in the Hampton Roads area, but I won't be there for another month. Right now I am refiting a small O'Day and in need of Could someone in the Research Triangle area, Greensboro NC or southern Virignia give me a lead before I start running the net. L
Lewes, Home Depot can special order if I can use six or more sheet (which I don't understand, evey nail driver needs a sheet of MP I need only two sheets of 3/8"

Buy the best. Dutch and Israeli stuff I have found to be best. Avoid hardware store stuff.

Home depot and lowes are retail outlets that cary some wood. You need to let your finger do the walking and call the lumber yards and contractor suply houses in your area.

Get the best though. It takes so long to fit out the ship, pay the extra for the best. It simply refused to delaminate if it's the best stuff.

From what I recall from my lumber sales experience years ago, the only difference between marine ply and exterior ply-(and also interior ply) was that it had a garanteed no void core. Which means there are no hollow spots within the core veneers. As far as I know the glue used was the same. Actually, according to my most recent supplier, even the newer interior plywoods have exterior glue. Your choice may depend on what you're using it for. Just remember, if you put enough epoxy and varnish on a peanut butter-jelly sandwich, it will still stand up to the elements. But if you require the most in a construction/structural project, choose, buy and build accordingly.

You might try Capitol City Lumber in Raleigh. They only list 1/4 and 1/2 on the web site:

but it is probably worth calling them. Very cool yard to visit; you will feel like you stepped back in time.

Marine Plywood is supposed to be put together with actual resorcinol glue - purple in colour and more expensive than epoxy...
