Jackstands

Where is the best place to buy jackstands for a sailboat? The marina here charges $130 ea is that the right price or can you get them cheaper for a catalina 27?

You save a bit by buying directly from the mfgr - Brownell Boat Stands, which is what I did several years and three boats ago, when I had my boat hauled to my property each winter. They're located in Mattapoisett, Ma - about a 40 minute drive from my home.

Back then, I paid about 35. each for stands . . . but as expected, the prices have risen dramatically.

Brownell has nearly cornered the market - with retailers all over the world.

$135 isn't a bad price. I think I paid $95 a stand but it came to $125 a stand after shipping. They have to be truck shipped, and freight companies don't like bringing things to residential addresses.

That's about the going rate. Shop around and you might find some used or, at the marina, ask to see the scratched one's! I picked up four last year for $105 ea, it was the dead of winter and they were motivated to more 'em.

Wink

Found my Bronell stands on e-bay for 150.00 for 6!!. Two years old and 50 miles away, just drove up and picked them up from a guy who just sold his Cape Dory 27 they were under. Many yards have angle iron frames that are adjustable you can purchase as well. Good Luck in your search. Jack
