Hey Tree!
I had a Saturn I believe and it worked well. Then one seasonleaked fluid just about launch time. My experience was rebuil (if possible) was about the same as a new compass.
As luck would have it I could get a Ritchie BN202 NAvigator for the same price as a Saturn. $450 compass for $150 was quite a deal. Actually a bigger hole. The bigger hole means more readable display. Love my compass!
Go with best deal - they are all god. Personally I would enlarge hole for larger compass as that is easier.
