1975 Ericson 27 - unknown part

This used boat is new to me, and I'm not sure what these two straps are for.
Appears they may wrap the stern pulpit?
note the riveted clasp on one of them. They are almost symetrically opposing, but one side appear slightly mis-shapen.

Any clues?

Sailormann will become famous soon enough
Looks like they are a set of brackets for some kind of pole or boathook maybe. One end of the pole would slide into the bracket with the closed end and the other end would drop into the bracket with the hooked end.

Then again - maybe just beer-holders of some kind....

My guess. Brackets to hang a Danforth type anchor from. Probably bent somewhat during usage.

They're anchor hangers... the stock of the Danforth would go in the hole and the other end would go into the hook-slot. Makes storing a Danforth-type anchor pretty simple.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.
