1976 Catalina 27 Hull Questions

I just purchased a 76 Catalina in fair shape planning on bringing her back to her original state this winter. My questions is on the hull of these older boats. Reading the Catalina website they state that the underwater areas of the hull are solid fiberglass and the upper is Balsa core. Just curious if anyone knows for sure if this is the same for the 70's era models just would like to know what I am dealing with before I get too far a head.

The hull on my 1974 27 Catalina is solid fiberglass. It does get dramatically thinner from the waterline up to the deck joint.
