Garmin nav cd or card?
i have a portable Gps from Garmin. i am about to buy the charts for it. There are two options;
1) Buy the cd's and download the info to the card that I already have. With this option I can have the charts on my laptop for nav planning, it is more expensive than just getting the cards.
2) buy just the cards and get nav cd's just for the laptop. This option is more expensive or just about even money depending on the charts I buy for the laptop.
I will have paper charts as well. Is it a big advantage to have the charts on a laptop?
IIRC, the Garmin BlueChart software will let you look at all the charts, but only download the ones you've unlocked to the GPS. For doing things like setting up waypoints, routes and trip planning, having the software and charts on the laptop are very useful—especially since you can then download the waypoints and routes to the GPS Chartplotter.
