Tartan 30 rudder removal

I removed the rudder on my ''72 T-30 about 15 yrs ago. As I recall, I had to remove the bronze shoe with some hammering, remove the collar in the cockpit, dig a hole, and carefully lower the rudder and shaft. Sharp raps with a 16-oz brass (or lead) hammer may work. Good luck great boat, we has ours for 18yrs. Curt Koster

Hi,
I was wondering if you could tell me how to remove collar in the cockpit. It looks like bracket just clamps down on the post. I have removed the bolts and bronze shoe, but I haven't gotten it to budge. Should it lift strait off, or does it twist and lock? Thanks for any Information!
