Fred, It may/will cost you more to bring this boat back, rather then buy another boat of the same age.

I'd have to agree with Freesail...if this boat was underwater for a while, the electrical system will have to be completely re-done...and many other things, like the cabin interior, upholstery, and interior bulkheads will probably need replacing as well...

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Try yachtworld.com for pictures. There are several 1970's era Newport 30's listed with pictures.

Yes, it may well cost you more than the boat is worth to bring it back to life. But on the other hand, if you carefully/slowly assess and survey the boat prior to beginning any work, you should be able to determine if it's worth restoring. Don't underestimate your the value of your own time and efforts and the reality of just how much time a project will take. Also, be advised that you'll gain a lot of invaluable knowledge from such a project as well.

If you can restore here for 5G, you will make about 10G for your labor, assuming you are doing the work.

You may want to look at the links above, then look at a Harken catalog and see what appears to be stock or equal and rehardware accordingly.

You would need to do some searching but there was a N30 that went up on the beach near San Francisco this summer. Sad case of a death on board and the sailors abandoning the boat out of grief. Odd case, but the boat was salvaged so the parts are probably available.
