Moors LCD Depth Sounder

My "new" old boat has a Moors LCD Depth sounder. What is the best way to test to see if it is working accurately if the boat is not in the water? I am redoing quite a few things on the boat, but it would be nice if I knew whether this piece of equipment was operational and accurate. Can transducers lose their accuracy over time?
