Boot-top touch-up
I've got some slight damage to the boot-top from sanding the old bottom paint too close. It does not require a complete re-paint, only some touch up. The boot-top is the original on this 1983 boat, but it still shines where I didn't hit it with the sander. Marine supply stores are few and far between here, so I'm also concerned about getting something that can be used at the water line. Can anyone tell me what products might work for this job?

Boot-Stripe Touch-up
Change "boot-top" to "boot-stripe." Don't know what I was thinkin' when I wrote it. Probably just needed more caffeine in my veins.

I think that any topside paint is ok. I got mine from defender. I did the same thing while sanding the bottom.

Thanks for the suggestion, Freesail. Short of ordering a marine-grade touch-up paint, do you, does anyone know of an automotive product that might work?

Have you considered using an adhesive tape instead of paint? These come in a vast array of widths and colours. The merit is they are usually applied "wet" anyway, then squeegeed on. Try www.boatnames.com.au in the first instance, Chris sends the stuff all round the world

Alan, Freesail,
Thanks for the suggestions. I went to Chris's site, Alan. Sounds like he's got some great products. Freesail, I'm going to check out Defender and other sites. Anyway, appreciate your help. Sail on, Sail on Pat |
