Datamarine Owners a Question

I''ve got a miles log with a switch and dimmer installed. I suspect the dimmer is there to dim the instrument lights...but it has no effect. The power toggle works fine. Any experiences with that dimmer dude?

I''ve got the same setup. The dimmer only dims the odometer on that pannel (not too useful, huh!). Your instruments, located remotely, must have the switch in the back set to "night". That way, when it get dark, the displays will be backlit. Since the lighting for each instrument is controlled on the instrument itself, the dimmer has no effect.

I have a Datamarine depth sounder also. Called the co 800 tel # and it has been disconnected. Are they still up and running? I get sporadic readings and would like to replace unit or replace with similar 4 1/2 in round digital unit. Any insight on co or adequate replacement?

Lisa...I ordered some display covers from them last year....try the following website..
sea-dmi.com....the phone I used was 508-563-7151. Good Luck! And thanks folks for the update on that highly functional dimmer. I had a bear of a time getting my instrument box covers off and once I did, I found those day/night switches MS mentioned. That solved that problem. Jim

I have Datamarine depth, speed and wind instruments. I took a wire from the "compass" switch on my electrical panel and connected it to the light post on all three instruments, and disconnected the jumper which connects the light post on the instrument to the 12v power post. (you must do this to avoid jumping the compass switch) With the night switch on all instruments on all the time, when I turn on the compass light switch, it also lights the instruments as well. This is the proper fix that Datamarine advises. Good luck.
