PFD''s for kids

Connecticut boating regulations require children under 12 to wear PFD''s at all times when the vessel is under way, unless in an enclosed cabin. My 9 year-old (65lb) is reluctant to come on board my 35ft sailboat and will be even more so when he finds out he has to wear a PFD most of the time. Can anyone recommend a brand of PFD that my son will find comfortable and that preferably incorporates a harness (he will be tethered to jacklines whenever out of the cockpit)

I have found the best way to get my grandsons to wear a PFD is to wear one myself. If I put mine on when I get on the boat, they look for theirs without even asking. Also, take him to the store and let him pick out one the HE likes from the ones that YOU approve of. He will be much more likely to wear it if he picked it out. I would also insist on a PFD with crotch straps.

Wise the advice yo´ve got from sailorman_10 : wear yourself your PFD, and let the guy to choose it own PFD.

I learned there are new SOSpenders infltables for children with arness too.
