TEAK OIL BUILD-UP?

I have a fair amount of teak on my boat. My question is if I oil it every few weeks to keep it nice will I get some type if build-up and make the wood funky?

TEAK OIL BUILD-UP?

Teak oil can easily removed (entirely) by soaking it with TSP trisodium phosphate or other caustics. Only problem with teak oil build up is that it will (years of service) turn dark... then black. Try to get a highly resinated teak oil with UV stabilizers - ie.: NuTeak by Marykate, etc.

TEAK OIL BUILD-UP?

Hi,

I do also have teak and the only way to keep it sound is to water wash weekly, and apply good teak oil with UV every 6 months. The more oil, more water weekly to clean the dust

Regards
Fernando
