Advantages/disadvantages of Non Metallic Cutless Bearings?

I have managed to remove my old bearing by splitting it with a sawzall and driving it out of the stern tube. It was a bronze cutless fiberglassed into a fiberglass tube.
Now I wonder whether to replace the bearing with another traditional bronze housed bearing or should I use a "non-metallic" one if it will be fiberglassed in place.
What are the advantages/disadvantages of the 2 types of cutlass bearings?

I have never heard of fiberglassing one in place, generally they are just pressed in using an interference fit to hold them in place. I also have not heard of one that is not bronze with a rubber inner sleeve. If there is a newer style I would think staying with what was designed in would be better. It is always possible I am just behind the times and there is something new and improved.
