momma, i got dem holdin' tank blues

macerator pump intake clogged again (cue the poo jokes). i don't get it. nothing goes in there but human waste, proper holding tank toilet paper, and holding tank enzyme. we've been on this boat since July, and have only had this problem since returning to it from our prop wrap adventure. it's now jammed two out of the last three times we've tried to use it. the pump is new as of may, but maybe it's just weak? if you do all the right things with your tank, isn't that supposed to prevent this kind of thing from happening?

Are you sure there's no female monthly items in there? Maybe even tight bend in the line?

There are some fellows on the Catalina-34 website that say reversing the polarity on the pump and then running it momentarily will often clear a clog. If you're pumping in Victoria Harbor, maybe it's just karma?

Better close the toilet lid first. Nothing is more frustrating than screwed-up plumbing. Aaaargh! Hatehatehate. Good luck, Hoffa.

Me thinks that the captain and crew of your boat needs to take some laxatives...

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

funny, your replies have the same effect

i tried reversing the wiring but it seems to be twit-proof as nothing happens. you can't reverse the polarity, which is probably good for most people who would muck with it.

i found that buy pumping like hell on the toilet i was able to clear the plug. i've always thought that inlet hose to the macerator was too small. but the way it labours, i'm wondering if the motor is crappy, pun intended. the juice we put in there is supposed to digest all the chunky bits, and the old woman's uterus is sitting in a glass jar in a hi-school biology lab somewhere, so i know she's not throwing unmentionables in there (unless as some kind of weird menopausal grieving thing)

Hoffa-

Way too much info in that last post. Maybe the hose is plugged up with mineral deposits... if that's the case, it may be the hose causing the blockage, and the macerator just doesn't have the power to pull the stuff through the blockage.
