comanionway hatch- temp. replacement?

I need to remove my sliding hatch to do some repair work. Might take a week or so. Any suggestions on how I could fairly easily keep the cabin protected from weather and people?

Thanks

How about a piece of 1/4 inch plywood for a top and two 2x2 across under the hatch . 2x2's attached with bumper bolts with just enuff play to slide just enuff to remove the boards and use the present lock attached to the new lid.

Saran Wrap and a pitbull. Or you could use timebandit's idea. Your choice. :0

Depending on how long the sliding hatch is going to be off the boat, it might be wiser to go with something a bit heavier than 1/4" plywood. It would be pretty simple for someone to break through 1/4" plywood. 3/8" or 1/2" would be far more secure IMHO, for not a considerable increase in costs.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.
