Electrical System Block Diagram

Does anyone know where I can find a block diagram for a basic DC electrical system. I'm trying to figure out the wiring on my boat. It is a combination of the original manufacturer's wiring and a rats nest made by the previous owner. Nothing is labled and I can't trust the color of the cables as even the battery cables are all black (positive and negative). Seems that if I can see what should be, it might give me a clue as to what is.
Thanks John
