Mast Boot ( Wooden spar )

My mast is 7x9" and I looking for something better than what I'm using ( Holt mast Tape ), Spartite nor SSI can help me.

Any Clues ??? or is tape as good as I'll get

I have used in the past, water & ice shield that is used on roofs. It has a sticky side and if punctured, it seals it's self. Very easy to apply.

I don't know what's on mine but I love it. Not a drop of water gets by.

The water and ice shield can be purchased at any home center.

My problem is a couple things, 1) My mast ( 7x9 ) sits in a 10x13" (OD) deck step, so the transition between the two is a booger, 2) The mast is not flat from corner to corner, so theirs a small bird mouth on each side 3) this self bonding tape doesn't seem to want to self bond very well due to the above mentioned issues

The previous owner had used duct tape, which is deteriorating and I really hate the thought of doing it the same way

I'm going over to the HDWR store and check out that roof tape that Freesail mentioned

Well, I didn't find Water & Ice shield, but I did find a butyl rubber elastic flashing tape, has a UV lifespan of 12 months, but I'm thinking I'll have the canvas guy make up a nice sunbrella boot cover and maybe extend that a bit

Anywho, thanks for the lead Freesail, I think this will work and it beats the crap out of duct tape
