Servicing EPIRB's

Hi All,
I've been given a 6 year old 406 EPIRB (never used). The battery expired over a year ago. What should I expect to pay for a service and battery???? Thanks.

Approx. $300.

Unfortunately, the EPIRB companies have you over a barrel. They control the battery supply and take full advantage of it. However, they will not only replace the battery, but will generally check out all the electronics in the EPIRB unit while doing so, so you can be sure that the unit is in good working order when you get it back.
